چکیده

Nonlinear response history analysis (NLRHA) is generally considered to be a reliable and robust method assess the seismic performance of buildings under strong ground motions. While NLRHA fairly straightforward evaluate individual structures for select set motions at specific building site, it becomes less practical performing large numbers analyses either (1) multiple models alternative design realizations with site-specific motions, or (2) archetype sites sets In this regard, surrogate offer an running repeated NLRHAs variable paper, recently developed modeling technique, called probabilistic learning on manifolds (PLoM), presented estimate structural response. Essentially, PLoM provides efficient stochastic model develop mappings between random variables, which can then used efficiently responses systems variations in design/modeling parameters motion characteristics. The algorithm introduced two case studies 12-story estimating probability distributions responses. first example focuses mapping multidegree-of-freedom its peak story drift acceleration second applies technique both examples, training data are generated orthogonal input parameter grids, test prescribed statistical distributions. Validation performed examine accuracy efficiency models. Overall, examples show good agreement estimates verification sets. Moreover, contrast other common techniques, able preserve correlation structure Parametric conducted understand influence different tuning prediction accuracy.

Investigating The Seismic Response of Structural Walls Using Nonlinear Static and Incremental Dynamic Analyses

Structural walls commonly used as efficient structural elements to resist lateral and vertical loads. Diverse performance of bearing wall system in past earthquakes, motivates investigation on the adequacy of current seismic design provision for these walls. This study considers seismic performance of model walls of bearing wall and building frame systems designed as ordinary and special struct...

Seismic Response of Building Structures with Sliding Non-structural Elements

Interaction between a structure under base excitation and heavy non-structural elements that it supports is significant in the seismic analysis and design of the structure. Heavy non-structural elements may slide/rock under base excitation, and this dynamic action affects the seismic behavior of the supporting structure. Hence, in this study, a numerical model was presented to describe the seis...

The Effect of Tuned Mass Damper on Seismic Response of Building Frames with Uncertain Structural Characteristics

Tuned mass dampers (TMDs) could be used to absorb the input energy of the applied load, and reduce the response of the building frames. However, the effectiveness of TMD in reducing the response of the building frames could be affected by inherited uncertainties in the structural characteristics of the frames. In this study, in order to investigate the probabilistic response of steel moment-res...

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment of Tehran Based on Arias Intensity

A probabilistic seismic hazard assessment in terms of Arias intensity is presented for the city of Tehran. Tehran is the capital and the most populated city of Iran. From economical, political and social points of view, Tehran is the most significant city of Iran. Many destructive earthquakes happened in Iran in the last centuries. Historical references indicate that the old city of Rey and the...
